Common questions.
Does it cost anything to work with you?
No. Insurance companies pay agents a commission. Your premium is the same whether you enroll with us, on your own, or through Medicare.gov or HealthCare.gov.
When can I sign up for Medicare or change my plan?
- Initial Enrollment Period: a 7-month window that starts 3 months before the month you turn 65 and ends 3 months after it.
- Annual Enrollment Period: October 15 to December 7 every year. Changes start January 1.
- Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment: January 1 to March 31, for people already in a Medicare Advantage plan. You can switch plans or go back to Original Medicare once.
- Special Enrollment Periods: moving, losing other coverage, and some other life changes open a window outside those dates.
When can I sign up for an ACA Marketplace plan?
In Texas and Arizona, which use HealthCare.gov, open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Pick a plan by December 15 for coverage that starts January 1. New Mexico runs its own Marketplace, beWellnm, with its own dates.
Outside open enrollment you need a qualifying life event, like losing job-based coverage, moving, getting married, or having a baby. You usually have 60 days from the event to enroll.
Can I get help paying for a Marketplace plan?
Many people can. For 2027, premium tax credits are generally available when household income is between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level. The larger credits from 2021 through 2025 have expired, so your savings may be lower than before. We check what you qualify for before you pick a plan.
What should I have ready before we talk?
For Medicare: your Medicare card, a list of your prescriptions with doses, and the doctors and pharmacies you want to keep. For the Marketplace: an estimate of next year's household income, everyone in your home who needs coverage, and any job-based coverage you've been offered.
